The ancestral games of the Millalevia school in Ercilla were held with great success

More than 200 people participated in the activity, supported by Cautín, which sought to strengthen the sense of belonging and the school seal, through a cultural, sports and traditional Mapuche space.

In the community of Chequenco, in Ercilla, the Ancestral Games of the Millalevia G-129 rural school were held. It was specifically a Palikantún or Palín meeting, an activity where more than 200 students and members of the educational community, together with students from the San Francisco Private School of the same commune, were able to share in this ancestral activity.

“The game of Palín, beyond being an ancestral sport, is a catalyst and forger of the Mapuche social structure, it is an instance that has a significant impact on the students, since the entire cultural protocol process is carried out by the students themselves, creating a pleasant and fraternal environment with the entire community,”  as it was explained by Eduardo Arévalo, Millalevia school principal.

Luis Alfaro, Cautín Sustainability Manager, highlighted the instance that had the support of Cautín. “We collaborated with the development of this meeting that was aimed at strengthening traditional Mapuche activities among the school community, and where they also had the opportunity to share food, which is part of the cultural protocol. Therefore, it is important to support these initiatives, also considering that Cautín collaborates permanently with activities that contribute to our neighbors, especially when it comes to activities that promote culture and sports,” he said.

The school principal added that “in the Mapuche cultural protocol, the Mizawun or sharing food, is a cordial way of attending to rivals or Kom, strengthening relations between the participants. We are very grateful for the valuable contribution that Cautín makes to us,” he said.

The Ancestral Games of the Millalevia school have been held every year since 2023 and aim to strengthen fraternity and empathy among students, through cultural, sports and traditional Mapuche activities, which seek to strengthen the sense of belonging and the school seal.
