Cautín participated in the 10th FSC general assembly in Panama

The event, which had more than 800 members from around the world, aimed to review, discuss and vote on key motions that will guide the work of the Forest Stewardship Council or FSC in the coming years aimed at protecting forests, supporting communities and promoting climate solutions through credible certifications.

A week of collaboration, dialog and action for forests, people and the planet is what was experienced at the 10th FSC General Assembly in Panama, an instance that brought together more than 800 members from different parts of the world, in a space for reflection on future actions linked to responsible forest management.
The assembly consisted of presentations of experts, plenaries and analysis spaces, where the role of FSC in the challenges of climate change, biodiversity and the design of the Global Strategy 2027–2032 were explored.

Cautín was part of the assembly, with the representation of its sustainability manager, Luis Alfaro, who highlighted the relevance of the instance in which, he said, it sought to strengthen the commitment to responsible forest management and contribute to the environment through sustainable practices.
“FSC members had the opportunity to vote on key motions on actions that will impact on the future, as well as review the 10 principles and criteria that should guide the strategy in the coming years, to address issues such as climate change, biodiversity, labour rights and gender equality. It was a public consultation, aimed at updating FSC standards,” explained Cautín sustainability manager.

Alfaro also highlighted the company’s commitment to FSC standards and purposes. “As Cautín, we are very committed to the guidelines of the FSC, responsible and sustainable forest management, maintaining the certification for 22 consecutive years,” he said.
